New data on the origin, geological conditions, thermal maturity, generation potential of organic matter from Bazhenov Formation have been obtained. Investigation of content pyrolyzed hydrocarbon components, determination of maturity level and kinetics of thermal kerogen destruction, studying the microstructure and other properties of organic matter of a few sections from Bazhenov Formation from wells of the Frolovskaya Depression were carried out. Application of obtained data for the identification of potential reservoir intervals, calculation of hydrocarbon reserves and resources, petroleum basin modeling and the development of thermal EOR technologies is discussed.
