Аннотация:New features in the joint adsorption of tetramethylammonium (TMA) and tetrabutylammonium (TBA) ions at the Hg/H2O interface were revealed by numerical analysis of the differential-capacitance curves over a wide range of potentials. It was shown that at relatively low negative values of electrode charge the TBA+ ions have the larger surface activity, but at large negative values of charge of the Hg electrode they are displaced from the surface by TMA+ ions, which in this region display significant surface activity. The charge densities of specific adsorption of the TBA+ and TMA+ ions were estimated quantitatively. The data obtained were compared with data for the joint adsorption of the same ions at the mercury/dimethyl sulfoxide interface.
