Аннотация:Complex formation between Cd**2** plus ions and 2,2'-dipyridyl was studied by a polarographic method. The adsorption of the reaction components on mercury from aqueous solutions makes the process quasireversible, but it was possible to determine the half-wave potentials. Complex formation becomes weaker with increase in the ethanol content of a mixture with water; the overall complex-formation constant and the maximum coordination number decrease (from 3 in aqueous solutions to 2 in ethanol solutions). The dependence of the limiting current, corrected for the viscosity of the medium, on the concentration of the ligand demonstrates the complexity of the solvation effects in the investigated system.
