Аннотация:It was found that the energy of specific adsorption of Fe(CN)//6**4** minus ions increase much faster with increasing positive charge of the mercury electrode than predicted by the Grahame-Parsons model. This is due, neither to the formation of KFe(CN)//6**3** minus ion pairs in the compact double-layer part nor to any change of dielectric constant within the compact layer. The additional change in the energy of specific adsorption of anions with electrode charge is shown to be a general phenomenon which is caused by an effective dipole moment arising in the compact layer, and is not accounted for in the Grahame-Parsons model.
