Аннотация:In a previous work the authors studied the effect of crystallographic surface inhomogeneity on electric double-layer (edl) structure and adsorption properties of cadmium electrodes. In this investigation, similar work was performed with indium. This study presents results obtained when determining C vs E curves in TBAI solutions of two different concentrations in base electrolytes having different Na//2SO//4 concentrations. One can see from the figure that a splitting of the adsorption-desorption peak occurs also in the Na//2SO//4 solutions, but only when the TBAI concentration is higher than 10** minus **3 N. The authors also studied the effect of base-electrolyte type on the phenomenon of capacitance-peak splitting at negatively charged, polycrystalline In in 0. 1 N NaI, CsI, and left bracket (CH//3)//4N right bracket I (TMAI) solutions. The most important changes in the adsorption behavior of TBAI are seen as one goes from KI or NaI solutions to CsI and TMAI solutions. The potentials of the TBA adsorption-desorption maxima shift in the positive direction; the splitting is reduced to 10 mv in CsI solutions, while in TMAI solutions one sees a peak in the C vs E curves that is not split up.
