Molecules containing non-carbon chain atoms, such as Ge, Si, Sn (E) may be regarded as a molecular conductors. Electrons of the single E-E bond are delocalized over the entire chain of atoms of elements (σ-conjugation). Thus, the existence of σ-delocalization in oligogermanes and related compounds leads to the appearance of properties which are characteristic for unsaturated hydrocarbons (conductivity, thermochromism, non-linear optical properties etc.). In this work we performed synthesis and investigation (NMR, IR- and UV/vis-spectroscopy, X-ray analysis, DFT calculations) of a series of the complexes of the aryl substituted oligogermanes with transition metal carbonyls. It is established that oligogermanes may be regarded as a good donors in relation to M(CO)3 fragment. This work is supported by the President Grant for Young Russian Scientists (МК-1790.2014.3).
