This talk is dedicated to teaching CLIL to the university students. Though the presentation is based on the speaker’s experience of teaching English to psychology students, it will also appeal to teachers working at other non-linguistic faculties. We will talk about most typical problems that universities face when introducing CLIL to the curricula, such as low language level and students’ inability to be involved in classical CLIL content-led classes; low qualification of teachers; big and often multi-level student groups, etc. These are only some of the typical problems that university management, teachers, and students encounter. This talk is aimed at sharing the experience of dealing with these problems at different levels: from syllabus design to the choice of lesson frameworks and teaching materials. You will see a challenging transformation from the general-English Syllabus to the academic content-based and professionally specific Syllabus that we have gone through within a year.
