Аннотация:This tutorial is based on the courses "Quantum Theory" (the module "Theoretical Physics") and "Nuclear and Particle Physics" (the module "General Physics") that are a part of the Russian federal state educational standard of the higher education within the topic 011200 - Physics.
The present material familiarizes with the basic principles and methods of the nonrelativistic quantum theory of potential scattering. Both the time-dependent and stationary formalisms, including that of the transition operator and its matrix, are brought into focus. The customary approaches and approximations are presented and their efficiency and applicability are outlined. A notable attention is devoted to the scattering on a spherically symmetric potential. The cases of Coulomb-tail and pure Coulomb potentials are also discussed. The tutorial is well structured, written in a simple fashion and fully corresponds to the content of the educational standard and program of this academic discipline.
For university and higher-education institution students and post-graduate students specializing in physics, researches working in the field of theoretical physics, atomic physics, nuclear and particle physics, and all persons interested in the subject.
