In the book existing ideas of terminology, mechanisms and models forming rhythmic carbonate units were systemized. For the first time results of complex research o f rhythmically bedded carbonate Upper Cretaceous units of the Russian Plate, NW Caucasus and SW Crimea by complex of lithologicalgeochemical, paleontologic, petromagnetic and statistical methods on the modern scientific level are given. New unite classification o f types of elementary rhythms for shallow and deep-water turbiditic (flysh) and non-turbiditic basins was proposed. Bathymetrical zonation of the types of rhythms and models of their origin was established. For row of sections duration of rhythms forming and connection with the astronomo-climatic Milancovich cycles was determined. For students of geological specialties and scientists - geologists, studying composition and origin of rhythmic units.
