Аннотация:A theoretical study is made of the kinetics of ion exchange in complex-forming ion exchangers by numerical solution of diffusion-type equations for convex and concave exchange isotherms and different ratios between individual diffusion coefficients of counterions and co-ions. It is shown that the rate of exchange is greatly affected by an ion which is preferentially sorbed by the ion exchanger. The process takes place more rapidly for a convex isotherm than for a concave isotherm. The distribution of ions in a granule depends on the ratio of the mobilities of the counterions and the shape of the isotherm. Experimental data agree qualitatively with the results of the theoretical study.
