Аннотация:Using the method of resonance fluorescence (RF) on iodine atoms, the rate constant of the reaction between the IO radical and sulfur oxide (II) in the temperature range of 273–363 K was measured. We have obtained the following dependence of the reaction rate constant on temperature k = (0.8 ± 0.2) × 10–14e(3.0 ± 0.5[kJ/mole])/RT molecule–1 cm3 s–1, where R = 8.31 × 10–3 kJ mole–1 K–1. Possible role of this reaction in the tropopause and in the sea atmosphere is discussed.
