Аннотация:The EIS-based experiments we started earlier to study the behavior of reinforced concrete samples in an aggressive chloride electrolyte did not allow us to reliably study the properties of the concrete layer covering the steel reinforcement electrode. Strong interference that occurs when a high-frequency signal is applied significantly distorts the current response shape. Therefore, we had to limit the frequency range, which made it impossible to record the section corresponding to the concrete layer separately from the signal related to the steel reinforcement in the spectrum. In this work, we overcame this limitation by increasing the amplitude of the AC signal in the high-frequency range, which allowed us to clearly separate the impedance spectra into sections related to the concrete layer and the steel reinforcement inside it. The studies reviewed in the work using the EIS method were performed mainly on concrete samples with pre-corroded reinforcement. They were conducted simultaneously with previously published results of polarization studies of these samples. The kinetics of changes in the properties of reinforced concrete under various types of impregnation (including the migration inhibitor IFKhAN-78) are discussed. It has been shown that although the resistance of the concrete layer is significantly lower than the polarization resistance (a criterion of corrosion resistance), it largely determines the subsequent corrosion behavior of the reinforcement, as it affects the access of the aggressive electrolyte to the metal.
