Аннотация:Nonlinear-optical properties of organic crystalline elements are of particular interest in research due to their wide applications in fast photonic and optoelectronic systems and devices. This paper focuses on studying the near-infrared, third-order nonlinear optical properties of microcrystalline perylene in its polymorphic α-phase made by ambient pressure sublimation. Using the femtosecond Z-scan technique, we demonstrate pronounced third-order nonlinearity of these microcrystals, namely the nonlinear refraction with the effective coefficient 10^-15 m^2 W^−1 and two-photon absorption with 10^3 cm GW^−1 in the visible spectral range. Studies of the resonance properties of α-perylene microcrystals under intense laser irradiation confirm that fast Kerr-type nonlinearity is the dominant mechanism of their nonlinear-optical response.
