Аннотация:A wide gradient of variable abiotic factors has contributed to the emergence of significant ecological and taxonomic diversity of the Caspian ichthyofauna, characterized by a high degree of endemism. The development of a strategy for the protection of this unique biodiversity requires the most accurate understanding of its real structure. Current data convincingly indicate that the taxonomic diversity of Caspian fish is significantly underestimated (examples are given for two genera of the Gobiidae family) and requires targeted research based on modern methods.
