Аннотация:The three texts included in the present paper tell about women’s encounters with bears, as depicted in the folklore of the peoples of Daghestan (East Caucasus, Russia). The stories come from two languages: Avar (ISO 639-3 ava), a major language of central and southwestern Daghestan, and Bezhta (ISO 639-3 kap), a minority language of the Tsezic branch.
