Аннотация:Near- and mid-infrared ranges have a huge potential for applications inphotonics and electronics, and therefore the demand for materials thattransmit radiation above 2 μm is growing. Glasses in the PbCl2-TeO2system are promising materials for this purpose, since they have lowphonon energies, a wide glass formation region and good resistant tocrystallization [1]. In this study, we synthesized a series of glasses with thegeneral formula of xPbCl2-(100-x)TeO2, where 10≤х≤50 mol %. By Ramanspectroscopy it was found that the introduction of PbCl2 into the glasscomposition led to substitution units of TeO4 by TeO3 anddepolymerization of the glass network. Structure transformation leads tosignificant changes in the physical properties of glasses: density, molarvolume, glass transition temperature, refractive index and microhardness. The synthesized glasses have a wide transmittance range from 0.4 to 7.5μm, chemical and thermal stability, and record low OH-group absorption. These makes the glass-forming system PbCl2-TeO2 promising for drawingoptical fibers and application in laser systems.
