Аннотация:The article provides an in-depth exploration of philosophical and cultural differences in the concepts of time between Western and Eastern civilizations. Special attention is given to distinctions between linear and cyclical approaches. The study is based on an analysis of philosophical ideas about time, ranging from Aristotle to Kant, and the influence of religions such as Christi- anity and Buddhism. The Eastern, particularly Chinese, conception of time, influenced by yin-yang and the five elements, as well as Buddhism’s reincarnation concept, demonstrates its cyclical and universal characteristics. The research focuses on the characteristics of time concepts in Western and Eastern cultures, particularly linear time in the West and cyclical time in the East. The article employs methods of linguocultural and comparative analysis. The aim of the study is to identify differences in the perception of time in Western and Eastern cultures and how these differences impact philosophical ideas and cultural development. The scientific novelty of the research lies in establishing the connection between philosophical exploration of time and cultural context, and in examining the role of religious doctrines (e.g., Christianity and Buddhism) in shaping the concept of time. The significance of the work is underscored by the use of new theoretical tools for research in translation studies, teaching Russian and Chinese as foreign languages, intercultural communication, psychology, anthropology, and cultural studies, especially regarding how people perceive and utilize the category of time in these languages.
