- Аннотация: It is shown in the article that the apparatus of the linear theory of tides permits revealing resonance properties of the atmosphere as an oscillatory system. In the presence in the atmosphere of ″centers″ modulating the parameters of the atmosphere longitudinally, traveling planetary waves - Rossby waves - can be excited. The estimates made for the case of absorption of variations in the flux of solar radiation caused by rotation of the sun, on longitudinal inhomogeneities of ozone in the earth's atmosphere give a value of the resonance amplitude for individual resonance modes of about 10-15 mb.
