Аннотация:A brief description of a new approach to solving scattering problems on the basis of continuum
discretization and the formalism of the spectral shift function is given. A discrete representation for this function admits a direct generalization to the multichannel case, where the total multichannel S matrix at many energy values can be found from a single diagonalization of the total Hamiltonian of the system. The model problem of the elastic scattering of a composite particle on a nucleus is considered as an illustration
with inclusion of the intermediate breakup of this particle
