- Аннотация: Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is the most prevalent dermatological disease, occurring in up to 50% of newborns, children, and adults around the world [1,2]. The synthetic topical antifungal and anti-inflammatory agents are clinically recommended in different countries, but regular use of these substances changes the scalp microflora biodiversity [3] and causes a lot of adverse effects [4,5]. The antibacterial and antifungal resistance of microflora involved in the pathogenesis of SD [6] contributed to research and development of novel substances. Thus, the aim of study was the development of the novel plant-based substance based on Melaleuca alternifolia (M. alternifolia) leaf oil (TTO), 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), and α-(-)-bisabolol and research its antimicrobial potential against standard microorganisms involved in the pathogenesis of SD. Moreover, the multi-phytochemical composition of the substance was analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). TTO, 1,8-cineole, and α-(-)-bisabolol were taken for this research work. S. epidermidis ATCC 14990, S. aureus ATCC 29213, M. luteus ATCC 10240a, C. albicans ATCC 10231, M. furfur ATCC 14251 were used for antimicrobial and antifungal assays by means of the broth microdilution method to determine the MICs. Additionally, the checkerboard assay was applied to assess the impact on potency of the combination of phytochemicals in comparison to their individual activities. Finally, the substance’s ability to inhibit M. furfur as the main pathogen involved in the pathogenesis of SD was evaluated.
