This paper reports a substantial improvement in bifacial silicon solar cell efficiency achieved by the application of a novel Laminated Grid (LG) cell design of current collecting system for solar cells. In LG cell design the current collecting grid is made of wire, attached to both cell surfaces by a low temperature lamination process, both cell surfaces were previously covered by electroconducting antireflection coating of ITO. Application of LG design to industrial n+np+ structures resulted in efficiency increase up to 19.2% (bifaciality about 66%) for Cz c-Si. Via optimisation of n+np+ structures and surface passivation, further efficiency increase is expected.
