- Аннотация: The chapter dwells upon the status of Catholic missions and communities in piedmont areas of Northern Vietnam. Taking into account rare documents used in scientific purposes for the first-time, the authors examine new data received from French missionaries, apostolic vicars and Vietnamese priests of the 19th century, for example, on baptizing the population, construction of churches, creation of publishing houses, persecution of Vietnamese Catholics and their resistance to it.
