Аннотация:A monophasic sample of Ag2MnSn3S8 has been prepared by heating stoichiometric amounts of the constituent metals and sulfur in evacuated silica tubes at 670degreesC. Structural analysis of Ag2MnSn3S8 using Rietveld refinement of powder X-ray diffraction data shows that it crystallizes in the Fd (3) over barm space group with a = 10.6984(2) Angstrom. Magnetization measurements in the temperature range 5300 K indicate paramagnetic behavior with a mu(eff) of 5.80 (muB), consistent with the divalent nature of manganese. Electrochemical studies show a coulombic capacity of similar to 50 Ah kg(-1) for the cell constructed with Ag2MnSn3S8 as the positive electrode. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science (USA). All rights reserved.
