Аннотация:The relevance of the research is accounted for by the necessity to summarize Russian and foreign scholars’ experiences of enhancing novice teachers’ self-development in the conditions of information society and educational digitalization when self-development can no longer be discrete and becomes a continuous process. Social changes make modern teachers and educational organizations deal with various issues, including the issue of scholarly substantiation and approbation of novice teachers’ self-education competence formation. The authors of the article maintain that due to rapid digitalization of education, modern teachers should never cease developing their skills and should be ever-involved in self-development and self-improvement, which shows that teachers’ self-development competence has gained high significance. The article analyzes questionnaires completed by 204 students of Pskov State University and Novgorod State University named for Yaroslav the Wise. The aim of the online questionnaires created in Google Forms was to assess students’ readiness for self-education in the conditions of modern information society. The authors maintain that the results of the research can serve as guidelines for theoretical substantiation and practical implementation of novice teachers’ self-development competence formation in higher education environment.
