Аннотация:In this article, the author of the study analyzes the views of the Russian philosopher and political
scientist Vadim Tsymbursky on the historical relationship between Russia and Europe. The purpose
of the scientific research was to determine the deep geopolitical foundations that, through the prism
of Tsymbursky's theory, would explain the problem of conflict between Russia and Europe from a
scientific point of view. The question under study is practically significant, since over the past 200
years such theorists as Danilevsky, Lamansky, Leontiev, Savitsky, Trubetskoy and others tried in
their own way to determine the reasons for the dichotomy of the two civilizations. The work used
the socio-cultural method, content analysis, the method of the unity of historical and logical
development. The author came to the conclusion that the hypothesis about the nature of interaction
between Russia and Europe, proposed by Tsymbursky, is accurate and original; within the
framework of his concept, the philosopher strove to take into account all the historical laws that
accompanied the clash of two civilizations. The value and practical significance of this work is that
the view of the scientist in question reveals in its own way the conflict basis of relations between
Russia and Europe and offers a fairly understandable concept included in the legacy of
contemporary Russian geopolitical thought, but forgotten behind the names of more famous Russian
geopolitologists (Panarin, Dugin, Kurginyan et al). It is assumed that these theses will take into
account some patterns when choosing options for strategies for the foreign policy development of
the Russian Federation in the future .
