Teaching English grammar in a reading classroom: indirect anaphoric reference in fiction (based on the novels of D. Lodge, J.K. Rowling and J. Barnes)статья
Аннотация:The article points out the necessity of including indirect ana- phoric reference in the course of English grammar and emphasizes the relevance of fiction as a reliable source of illustrative material, which will enable the learners to be aware of its specific place among other means of expressing individualization in the language. In order to make the stu- dents get familiar with the mechanism of interaction between antecedent and anaphor underlying this grammatical phenomenon, they can be of- fered a method of complex analysis to be carried out on three levels, such as syntactic, semantic and pragmatic ones. Besides, to fully appreciate the role indirect anaphoric reference plays in the discourse of imaginative writing, the students should be exposed to its stylistic functioning.
