The ternary intermetallics from the Ce–Pt–Al systems attract attention due to the wide set of their electron-correlated properties resulting from variable hybridization between 4f-electronic states of Ce and electrons from the s, p and/or d bands of neighboring atoms [1]. In the Ce-Pt-Al system the three ternary compounds of one homologous series were identified, namely CePtAl [2], CePt2Al2 [3, 4] and CePt3Al3. CePtAl structure belongs to the TiNiSi type of structure. The intermetallic of CePt2Al2 has two polymorphic modifications. One of them is tetragonal with structure of CaBe2Ge2 -type, and second modification has orthorhombic structure derived from CaBe2Ge2. CePt3Al3 structure belongs to a new type of structure that is a combination of fragments CePt2Al2 with PtAl.
