Аннотация:This chapter presents a brief review of the pyrolytic methods used for municipal solid waste (MSW) conversion into biofuel. The features and basic types of pyrolytic processes are discussed along with the main pyrolysis products obtained at various temperatures and heating rates of the initial MSW mass. Since the biofuel obtained by conventional pyrolysis contains a large amount of oxygenated compounds and water, a catalytic cracking technique is used to obtain high-quality boiler or transportation fuels. The main types of catalysts used in the catalytic pyrolysis of the MSW, their properties, and the degree of influence on the process are considered here. The main advantages of pyrolysis reactors of various types are also analyzed. Considerable attention is paid to the environmental problems of the pyrolytic processing of solid waste.
