Аннотация:The study of the occurrence and development of oxygen deficiency in paleo-water basin, which are associated with the accumulation of sediments, enriched with organic matter has an important fundamental scientific and practical importance as well as for the development of criteria for the search for potentially oil and gas source rocks and the conditions of their sedimentation.
In this work, on the basis of factual material, the oceanic anoxic event (OAE) 2 is studied in detail. It was taking place at the end of the Cenomanian. Evidences of this event are found in all regions of the world: America, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Europe, Russia and others. The duration of OAE 2 could be from tens of thousands of years to 0.5 million years.
The aim of the work was to consider the process of the formation of potentially source rocks in the conditions of anoxic sedimentation using the example of the Cenomanian-Turonian oceanic anoxic event characteristic of the margins of the Tethys Ocean. The actual material was samples selected by the authors from the points: the East Caucasus (Levashi) - 27 samples, the Crimea (Aksu-Dere) - 7 samples, the Czech Republic (Pecinov quarry) - 19 samples.
