Аннотация:The role of lipid peroxidation (LPO) products generated in membranes of human blood lymphocytes upon irradiation with He-Ne laser was studied. It was found that low-intensity laser irradiation (0.3-1.6 J/cm2) causes both cell activation and an increase in the content of LPO products. The intensity of LPO was analysed by measuring the amount of TBA-reactive products and conjugated dienes. Irradiation in the presence of an exogenous photosensitizer (protoporphyrin IX) enhanced the phenomena observed. The use of antioxidants (tocopherol and ionol) completely abolished the laser-induced effects (changes in leukocyte activity and accumulation of LPO products). These results can be explained by the fact that laser irradiation leads to LPO activation in leukocyte membranes, which, in turn, enhances cell response to the stimulus (priming).
