Аннотация:This article presents the results of an experimental study of the perception by non-native speakers (Russian listeners, n = 17) of talk show fragments containing interpersonal communication between Germans and Austrians who are representatives of the political elite and the area of culture (n = 20). In this case, communication is considered as a multimodal interaction between communicants that results in the formation of a perceptive image of the communicative situation and communication partners. Moreover, the basic knowledge is accumulated and actualized in visual and auditory images that complement each other. With regard to the perception of foreign language speech, an additional source of information is the speech paraverbalics (intonation and prosody). In some cases, there is an evaluative statement of additional perceptual features that correlate with established stereotypes. This research is exploratory and is aimed at determining the perceptual evaluation of the emotional state of foreign language communicants based on paraverbal (intonational-prosodic) and non-verbal (facial expressions and gestures) characteristics. The preliminary data obtained indicate the prospects for further studies of this kind.
