Аннотация:The paper presents the first complete paleontological characteristic of geological sections on the western slope of the Voronezh anteclise including a complex of inoceramids, other bivalves, and belemnites as well as foraminifers and radiolarians. The data on the distribution of micro- and macrofossils in sections at the Chernetovo, Fokino, Zikeevo, and Sobolevskoe settlements have been analyzed and supplemented by data from a section penetrated by Borehole 26 sunk in the same area. The biostratigraphic zoning obtained as a result of the analysis of the fossil fauna groups has allowed suggesting a reliable correlation with the well-examined sections in the western part of Europe and in the southwest of the former USSR including the Transcaspian Region. These data, along with the results of cyclicity analysis of the examined sections, have enabled the authors to assess the duration of the stratigraphic hiatuses and the sedimentation rate. The obtained results serve as a basis for paleogeographic reconstruction of the ancient basin on the territory of the Voronezh anteclise. The recognition of Milankovitch astronomic-climatic cycles from the bedding cycles allows recognizing the turning points in the basin evolution.
