Аннотация:The article is devoted to the issue of psychological characteristics of one-parent families. The family, in which a child is brought by one parent, now is becoming an important independent object of socio-psychological research. According to authors' opinion, the subject of importance is not only the specifics of individual psychological characteristics of single-parent families, but also the interaction of these important characteristics. The authors chose the following socio-psychological variables for investigation: the mother's perception of psychological well-being of her child, the nature of her coping strategies and style of upbringing. The authors revealed a variety of social and psychological characteristics of single-parent families. Thus, the parent strategy of positive reformulation of problems is involved as a way to see the positive aspects of the situation in the family and the relationship with the child on case of the lack of consistency in style of education and lack of inhibitions; and active coping strategies - with a focus on promotion rather than punishment in the child's behavior regulation.
