Аннотация:The structure of the soil pore space depends on the relationship between the hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties of humic acid. Fractional salting-out of humic acids is an effective means of separating humic acid fractions in terms of hydrophobicity. The humic acids were more hydrophilic in an irrigated Chernozem with poor structural properties, which suggests the mechanisms by which humic acids are altered under increasing exposure to hydromorphic conditions. The alteration of the humic acids makes them more hydrophilic and the changes in the structure of the pore space increase the degree of swelling, shrinkage, and cracking of soils and aggregates.
