Аннотация:Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy is a rather old analytical technique, but its history can be divided into two part. The first “romantic” period was started just after laser invention and as we can see it was not productive. The second period began with the introducing of high-sensitive multichannel detectors to LIBS studies by T.R. Loree and L.J. Radziemski. Later L.J. Radziemski and D. Cremers have paid considerable attention to the history of LIBS in their works, especially in [1]. M. Baudelet and B.W. Smith [2] also made a deep look into history of LIBS and tried to point out the useful experience of first years of LIBS to nowaday researchers. Despite this a number of works from “romantic” period is not known by LIBS community, though the application of the principles stabled by these works is extremely topical now. It is about the isotopic composition study by molecular emission after laser ablation and remote analysis. In this report the results obtained in 70-th and early 80-th regarding oxygen isotope determination [3] and building remote LIBS apparatus [4] will be compared with contemporary works. Although several works devoted to LIBS sensitivity enhancement will be discussed.
