Аннотация:A novel approach has been developed for the synthesis of (Fe,W)6C and (Fe,W)12C carbides from iron and tungsten powders via their wet mechanical alloying followed by compaction and annealing at 900 C. It has been found that the compacted samples show the density of up to 12.5 gcm3, microhardness of up to 10 GPa, and high wear resistance under abrasive wear and dry sliding friction against a steel disk. As for the level of the catalytic activity with respect to the hydrogen evolution reaction in sulfuric acid solution, the obtained carbides are between Fe3C and WC-6Co alloy.
