Аннотация:The method for nitrogen-15 fractionation by nitrogen isotopes exchange in system consisting of liquid mixtures of nitric acid and nitrogen oxides and the gaseous nitrogen oxide at temperatures between -40oC and -10oC under atmospheric pressure was developed. Chemical processes of interaction of liquid nitric acid and gaseous nitrogen oxide at low temperatures and the equilibrium of the nitrogen isotopes exchange were studied by means of analysis of each of the co-existing phases in a packed column with counter current of liquid and gas flows. Theoretical modelling and testing of an experimental plant allowed to conclude that the low temperature Nitrox method is appeared promising for large-scale nitrogen-15 production. This method allows to improve the main technological parameters as compared to a traditional room temperature Nitrox system; namely: to increase the process productivity of the same column and a degree of the 15N extraction from the feed nitric acid up to 2 times; to diminish consumption of sulphur dioxide (which is used for conversion of HNO3 into NO) in about 2 times.
