In this work we present the results of the probe Mössbauer study of the double manganite BiMn7O12. As a result of the research, the effect of impurity iron cations on the macroscopic properties (temperatures of structural phase transitions Ti , Néel temperature TN ) of bismuth manganite was studied in comparison with the undoped sample. The Mössbauer measurements of BiMn6.9657Fe0.04O12 were carried out in a wide temperature range above and below TN1 ≈ 53 K. It was shown that probe 57 Fe atoms isovalently replace the Jahn-Teller Mn3+ cations in the octahedral sublattice, and each temperature range is characterized by the specific type of Mössbauer spectrum. It was demonstrated that the number of partial spectra Fe(i) and their hyperfine parameters (first of all, the quadrupole splittings Δi) are highly sensitive to the type of crystallographic structure of BiMn7O12 as well as to the nature of splitting and local environment of the manganese octahedral positions (Mni).
