Аннотация:A qualitative dependence for the stellar cycle period on the angular velocity is predicted within the framework of a simple mean field dynamo model for main sequence stars of given spectral type having extended convective shells. The model identifies the stellar cycle period with the period of variation of an average stellar magnetic field. The main sources for undamped field variations are a nonuniform rotation and a mean helicity of turbulent motion. The convective shell is approximated by a plane layer oriented along the polar angle; an axisymmetrical field only is considered. Two crude extreme cases are studied: (1) the sources have approximately uniform distributions along the radius or they have maxima spaced at shorter distances than the characteristic source widths; and (2) the sources are localized in different nonoverlapping layers. The dependence appears to be nonmonotonous and can be checked by observations.
