[1] Intermediate resolution hβ spectroscopy and photometric monitoring of 3c 390.3. i. further evidence of a nuclear accretion disk / A. I. Shapovalova, A. N. Burenkov, O. I. Spiridonova et al. // IAU Colloq. 184: AGN Surveys. — Vol. 284 of Astronomical Society of the Pacific Conference Series. — 2002. — P. 373. The spectral and broad-band (BVRI) monitoring of 3C 390.3 was carried out during the 1995-2000 at SAO RAS, GHO, Abastumani and Sternberg Observatories during the 1995-2000. The broad component of the Hb emission and the continuum flux varied by a factor of about three, and no periodic variability was found. The time lag between the emission line response relative to the continuum variations is found to be changing with time (lag ∼100 days and ∼35 days). The flux of the Hb wings varied quasi-simultaneously, with the same lag relative to continuum variations. This behavior excludes models of broad line formation in biconical gas streams or jets. We further dismiss the hypothesis of a binary massive BH for the origin of the double-peaked Hb profiles in this object. The observed profiles are best reproduced by an inclined accretion disk (25 degrees) whose region of maximum emission is located roughly at 400 Rg.
