Аннотация:The bovine retina rod cell protein with apparent molecular mass of 26 kD (p26 [1] or recoverin [2]) is suggested to activate guanylate cyclase in a calcium-dependent manner [2,3]. However, according to our present data highly purified preparations of p26 are not able to activate the enzyme. However, we found Ca2+-dependent complex of p26 and a protein with apparent molecular mass of 67 kD (presumably the rhodopsin kinase) in the extract from bovine retina rod outer segments. This suggests that rhodopsin kinase may be a functional target for p26 in bovine retina rod cells.
