Аннотация:The electron microscopy analysis of synaptonemal complexes (SC) of a Microtus fortis male was performed for the first time. On the basis of measuring SC lengths the SC karyotype is represented and proportion in sizes of mitotic metaphase chromosomes and corresponding axes of lateral SC elements are shown, excluding axis elements of X-and Y-chromosomes. There was no synapsis between axes of these two chromosomes in pachytena. Behavior of M. fortis sex chromosomes is found similar to that in thirteen previously studied Palaearctic species of the genus Microtus sensu late, but differs from behavior of them in M. oeconomus and M. montebelli. These differences in behavior of X-and Y-chromosomes in pachytena of Microtus species seem to indicate both their taxonomic heterogeneity and closer relations of M. fortis to other Palaearctic species of this genus than with M. oeconomus and M. montebelli.
