Аннотация:Incubation of chloroplasts of Pisum sativum L. in a medium with acidic pH value was accompanied by inhibition of electron transport Chloroplast activity was almost fully restored at neutral pH of the medium by introduction of Ca2+, but not Mg2+, Mn2+, or Ba2+ (in the case of treatment of a medium with pH 3.3). The ions Na+, Mn2+, and Ba2+ when added prior to Ca2+ suppressed the reactivation process. When these ions were introduced after Ca2+, chloroplast activity failed to recover only in the case of Ba2+. Data of donor-acceptor analysis suggest inactivation of the electron transport chain at the level of the acceptor sector of PSII. The reactivation process was inhibited by water-soluble carbodiimide (CD), but not by lipid-soluble dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCCD), which indicates that the sector of Ca2+ binding is located on the outer side of the thylakoid membrane.
