Аннотация:The authors studied the adsorption behavior of benzaldehyde (BA) and salicylaldehyde (SA) on mercury by recording sigma vs. E curves with the aid of a U-shaped capillary. Measurements have shown that BA (Benzaldehyde) and SA (Salicylaldehyde) adsorption leads to a marked reduction in differential capacity C of the mercury electrode, but the shape of the C vs. E curves is such (no adsorption-desorption peaks in the anodic region, and pseudocapacitance owing to current flow at potentials more negative than E equals minus 1. 0 V) that they cannot be used to calculate adsorption parameters. Moreover, the adsorption isotherms calculated from the capacity measurements in the region of maximum adsorption via the model of two parallel capacitors are in harmony with the data of the thermodynamic calculations based on the sigma vs. E curves.
