Kinetics of hemolysis and time course of the intra-erythrocyte hemoglobin oxidation under action of synthetic sulfur-nitrosyl iron complexes capable of releasing of nitric oxide in the course of spontaneous hydrolytic decomposition have been studied. The addition of given complexes to 0.2% mouse erythrocyte suspension resulted in hemolysis of erythrocytes which is went with characteristic for each complex induction time. It was showed that hemolysis have been preceded by hemoglobin oxidation under action of nitric oxide penetrating into cell. Oxidation of hemoglobin followed to the fest order equation. The effective first order rate constants characterizing the NO-donating abilityt of each complex were determined/ It was suggested that hemolytic effect of studied complexes is connected with formation of peroxynitrite -the citotoxic product of interaction nitric oxide and superoxide anion radical.
