Аннотация:Hysteresis phenomenon in the soil water retention curve (SWRC) is one of the most important soil hydrological characteristics required for both agricultural and environmental research The objective of the work is to attempt modeling wetting curve of the soil water retention curve using drying curve based on the parameters of van Genuchten 1980 and soil physical characteristics. Soil water retention curve hysteresis (SWRC hysteresis) was measured using capillarimeters for drying and wetting curves under a low soil potential 0-[-800] mbar. Two developed models were presented for estimating wetting curve based on drying curve. Developed models were validated and compared with a well-known model that can be used for the same purpose, such as the Kool and Parker 1987 model (KP87). The developed model (M-1) α_w=0.13+ α_d is based on alpha drying (α_(d )) curve for estimation the main wetting curve of SWRC hysteresis with estimation errors (RMSE=0.05cm-1) that are significantly lower than model M-2 (α_(w =) 0.05+0.35α_d+0.09 bulk density +0.0003 clay) (RMSE=0.06 cm-1) and KP87 model 〖( α〗_w=2α_d) (RMSE= 0.086 cm-1). The model (M-1), which takes into account only drying curve for estimation wetting curve is better than a model (M-2) that takes into account drying curve and soil physical properties.
