Аннотация:The distribution of the position angles of linearly polarized radiation due to strong Faraday rotation in the region of the structure where the optical depth, tau(lambda), is about 1 is shown to be asymmetrical. A simplified model of a smoothly inhomogeneous linear structure of compact core-jet radio sources is used. The presence of strong Faraday rotation in the tau(lambda) = 1 region increases the estimate of the plasma density in the source by 1-2 orders of magnitude. This removes the highly rigid restriction on the low-energy cutoff of the relativistic particle spectrum.
