Аннотация:Abstract. The informativity of the time variation of geophysical fields for
earthquake prediction is discussed. A review of previous studies on spectral-time
analysis of long-term realizations of various geophysical parameters observed at
the Garm prognostic test range in Tadjikistan has shown substantial time
variability for all geophysical fields. Similar periodic components, ranging from a
few months to several years, were detected in time variations of these parameters.
This may indicate common regional or global oscillational factors controlling the
structure of these variations. There is virtually not significant correlation between
variations of these parameters and the moments of strong earthquakes. Physical
and mathematical questions posed by analysis of time series used in earthquake
prediction are discussed in this context. In particular, the feasibility is considered
of forming dynamic space-time structures in geophysical fields to be utilized for
earthquake prediction.
