Аннотация:The distribution of nesting populations of individual lark species by semidesert habitats in the Caspian Lowland is analyzed on the basis of data on the density of nesting pairs estimated by transect counts. The counts have been taken in 25-km2 key areas, in combination with mapping and description of soils and vegetation. Such an integrated approach has made it possible to reveal habitat preferences of individual Alaudidae species characteristic of the northwestern Transvolga part of the Caspian Lowland. It is shown that the distribution of lark species in a monotonous plain depends primarily on its meso-and microrelief as the main factor determining the patterns of soil salinity and vegetation groups, which, in turn, determine specific features of bird habitats
