Accurate prediction of snow avalanches, due to various reasons and occurrence at different times, is very difficult and even impossible. As a result of the impact of snow avalanches, together with the violation of landscape infrastructure, the ecological balance is violated and often, this process is followed by a human victim. This is aggravated by a category of
problems, with the population migration being a major problem. Development of the avalanche-regulation measures has a complex designation and covers such fields as ecological balance, landscape infrastructure, ensuring population safety, etc. At the same time, we should note the circumstances that economically, for such small countries as Georgia, the reliability and stability of avalancheregulation structures is vital. The ranging of the modern history of the operation of the avalanche-regulation structures evidences that most of them are outdated. The situation is similar in the avalanche-prone corridors of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region. The aim of the project is the use of innovative avalanche-regulation structure to efficiently regulate avalanches, its field examination and specification of building norms and rules. The major hydrodynamic and power characteristics of the avalanche impact on the structure will be specified based on the project; the hydrological and other major parameters of avalanche formation will be specified; the scientific methodology of designing the elastic avalanche-regulation structure will be developed and the power properties of a moving mass will be considered under it with the aim to specify the reliability of the elastic avalanche-regulation structure; they will be studied, analyzed and generalized, in particular, the forecast of the strength and peak discharges will be provided; the avalanche-regulation structure will be modeled; the building norms and rules for current hydrology will be developed as a recommendation to construct the avalanche-regulation structure. By using the above-said methodology, the model of an avalanche-regulation solution will be designed and will be tested in the nature. The project is innovative in regulating the natural calamities formed in the corridors of avalanche impact in Georgia and can be used in the avalanche-prone regions with similar conditions.
